Volunteer Vacancies’ 2-1-24

Meals on Wheels drivers are needed to assist with St Canice’s Home Meals on Wheels service. Volunteers will be asked to attend the St Canice’s Day Centre once a week, collect and deliver the meals in the local area, collect the dishes from the previous delivery and give a quick check in with clients. Volunteers will use their own vehicles and delivery will be within a 3km radius of the centre.

St Lukes Hospital in Kilkenny are looking for volunteers, with knitting or crocheting skills, to make new born hats for babies born in the hospital. They love to have knitted or crocheted hats for the newborns when they are first delivered as they are really warm and it helps them transition to the outside world . You can also add a little tag to each hat :” Made for you by ……….”

Butler Gallery are looking for friendly courteous and approachable volunteers who will ensure that all visitors are warmly received and have a positive experience in the gallery. The Gallery Invigilator Volunteers will to be the face of the gallery and providing visitors with a warm welcome, assistance and information.
An interest in art is beneficial but not essential.

Kilkenny Mens Shed would love the support of a volunteer with woodwork skills to provide some basic woodwork workshops in order to upskill their members in this area.
Basic skills around furniture restoration or small scale woodwork projects would be suitable and materials will be provided.

Alone is looking for Visitation Support and Befriending Volunteers to provide extra companionship and practical support to older people who would like extra social contact through a weekly volunteer visit.


The Support and Befriending service is designed to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, provide assistance to solve everyday problems and enable older people to feel secure at home.
