Listen Back to Saturday’s Ceol agus Comhrá with Nickey Brennan

On Ceol agus Comhrá from Saturday 18th July, Nickey Brennan began the show with his regular contributor, Micheál O Diarmada who started this morning’s Ceol agus Comhrá talking to us about the Travelling Community. In the second half of the show Nickey spoke about how the strength of communities throughout Ireland and especially here in County Kilkenny was never more evident than in recent months during the height of the coronavirus pandemic. The community out in Muckalee have worked diligently over the years to support parishioners and their latest project is the development of a new community centre which will further enhance the lives of people who live in the area. Nickey was joined by members of the development group this morning to chat about the development. Nickey finished the show by speaking to Tony Murray who is a Kilkenny native and who recently published a book titled “Holy Wells” which recalls memories in photographic form from the 70’s and 80’s of Religious Festivals and other community celebrations. Nickey finished the show with his series of interviews from the closing day of the Mayfair Ballroom in Irishtown, Kilkenny.
